May 25th, one of the most anticipated issues of the year for Spanish euro collectors will arrive. The Royal Mint of Spain (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de la Moneda) will release the official 2026 Euroset, an uncirculated edition that includes the eight regular circulation coins dated 2026, along with the two commemorative €2 coins issued this year.

As has become customary in recent years, Euroset maintains a close relationship with the Spanish series dedicated to UNESCO World Heritage sites. This time, the main focus is the Monastery of Poblet, whose image and themes significantly influence the visual identity of the official presentation.

The edition comes in a practical, numbered blister pack designed for both protection and display of the coins, allowing both sides of each piece to be perfectly viewed. This format is especially appreciated by collectors, as it combines preservation, presentation, and a relatively limited mintage.

The two commemorative 2 euro coins included in this issue represent two very different, but equally relevant themes within the Spanish numismatic program of 2026.

The first coin is dedicated to Article 49 of the Spanish Constitution, recently amended to strengthen the protection and rights of people with disabilities. The coin aims to highlight equal opportunities, universal accessibility, and the full participation of all people in the social, economic, and cultural life of the country. It is an issue with a strong social and symbolic character, focused on one of the most important constitutional changes in recent years.

The second commemorative €2 coin is dedicated to the Monastery of Poblet, in the province of Tarragona. Founded in the 12th century, this Cistercian monastery is considered one of the most important monastic complexes in Europe. Its historical significance was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, a designation that solidified its cultural and architectural importance.

Poblet is not only remarkable for its monumental architecture and impressive fortified complex. For centuries it also served as the royal pantheon of the Crown of Aragon, housing the tombs of several of its monarchs. The abbey church, the Gothic cloister, and the walls surrounding the complex make the monastery one of the best-preserved medieval examples in Spain.

The choice of Poblet as the main motif of the Euroset 2026 maintains the line followed by Spain in its latest official issues, where the annual case also serves as a showcase to reinforce the commemorative 2 euro coin belonging to the World Heritage series.
