The Late Roman Pottery at Istros (4th–7th centuries AD), semnată de Iulia-Alexandra Iliescu este un volum despre ceramica romană târzie de la Histria, care înainte de a deveni acest frumos volum a fost o excelentă teză de doctorat.

Un pas important pentru cercetarea Sectorului Acropolă Centru-Sud și pentru arheologia de la Histria în general.

Cele două didrahme de argint aparțin primelor două serii monetare bătute de colonia Istros în perioadă clasică, în monetăria locală, în cursul secolului V – începutul secolului IV a.Chr. Foarte rare în descoperiri, exemplarele reprezintă o consecință a dezvoltării economice și comerciale a cetății histriene, înființată de coloniștii veniți din Milet pe la mijlocul secolului VII a.Chr.
Moneda din prima serie (nr. 1), descoperită la Vadu (com. Corbu, jud. Constanţa), prezintă un stil de realizare a temei iconografice de tip sever și prezintă pe avers, spre stânga, cele două capete ale zeului Apollo, dintre care cel din dreapta inversat; iar pe revers apar o acvilă ce se repede asupra unui delfin pe care îl ţine în gheare. Tot ansamblul este imprimat într-un quadrat incusum; (pătrat imprimat), specific tehnologiei folosite în lumea greacă în perioada arhaică. Deasupra acvilei și a delfinului apare scris numele cetății sub forma legendei IΣTPI. Piesa aparține etalonului ponderal attic (8,14 g) și a fost emisă în perioada 450 - 420 a.Chr.
Moneda din cea dea doua serie (nr. 2) face parte din tezaurul descoperit la Mahmudia (jud. Tulcea) în anul 1949, care era compus din 10 exemplare. Prezintă un stil iconografic de realizare evoluat, prezentând pe avers cele două capete ale lui Apollo, dintre care cel din dreapta inversat (cu părul ondulat), iar pe revers apar o acvilă ce se repede asupra unui delfin pe care îl ţine în gheare. Tot ansamblul este imprimat, din nou, într-un quadrat incusum. Deasupra acvilei și a delfinului apare scris numele cetății sub forma legendei IΣTPI. Piesa aparține etalonului ponderal milesian (8,19 g) și a fost emisă în perioada 410-380 a.Chr.

𝑫𝒊𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒔 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝑰𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒓𝒂 

The two silver didrachms belong to the first two monetary series minted by the Istros colony in the classical period, in the local mint, during the 5th century – early 4th century BC. Very rare in discoveries, the specimens represent a consequence of the economic and commercial development of the Histrian city founded by colonists from Miletus around the middle of the 7th century BC.
The coin from the first series (no. 1) was discovered in Vadu (Corbu commune, Constanţa county). It presents a severe style of iconographic theme and shows on the obverse, to the left, the two heads of the god Apollo, of which the one on the right is inverted; and on the reverse there is an eagle rushing at a dolphin that it is holding in its claws. The entire ensemble is printed in an quadrat incusum (printed square), specific to the technology used in the Greek world during the archaic period. Above the eagle and the dolphin, the name of the city appears written in the form of the legend IΣTPI. The piece belongs to the Attic ponderal standard (8.14 g) and was minted in the period around 450 - 420 BC.
The coin from the second series (no. 2) is part of the hoard discovered in Mahmudia (Tulcea county) in 1949, which was composed of 10 pieces. It presents an evolved iconographic style of execution, presenting on the obverse the two heads of Apollo, of which the one on the right is inverted (with wavy hair), and on the reverse an eagle rushing at a dolphin that it holds in its claws. The whole ensemble is printed, again, in an quadrat incusum. Above the eagle and the dolphin, the name of the city appears written in the form of the legend IΣTPI. The piece belongs to the Milesian ponderal standard (8.19 g) and was minted in the period around 410 - 380 BC.
