Tezaur de monede poloneze de argint, descoperit de detectoristul Șain, într-o pădure din Scoarța

 

 

Un tezaur de monede din argint, poloneze, din perioada 1500-1600 a fost descoperit de către detectoristul Cristinel Șain, din Roșia de Amaradia, în zona Scoarță. Descoperirea a fost făcută chiar în această dimineață, într-o zonă împădurită, la o adâncime de 25 de centimetri. Monedele urmează să fie predate Muzeului Județean Gorj!

Cristinel Michi Șain nu este la prima descoperire importantă, acesta a scos la lumină și monedele de aur bizantine dar și toporul din perioada Eneolitică(cu o vechime de 6000-7000 de ani). Michi Șain face detecții din plăcere de câțiva ani.

The National Bank of Poland continues to expand its “Discover Poland” series with a new commemorative 5-zloty coin dedicated to the Kozłówka Palace and Park, one of the best-preserved former aristocratic residences in the country. The coin was issued on May 22, 2026, and has a maximum mintage of 1,000,000 pieces.

With this issue, the collection once again focuses on one of those places where history, architecture and landscape come together to showcase an essential part of Polish heritage.

The reverse of the coin depicts the Kozłówka palace and park complex, with a view that draws the eye towards the courtyard and residence, highlighting the monumental character of the site. The composition maintains the usual style of this series, in which the main motif is integrated within the coin's bimetallic format. The issue also incorporates an angular effect, a technical feature already used in other pieces of the collection.

The obverse features the Eagle, the state emblem of the Republic of Poland, in the center on a separate circular plane. Below it appears the year of minting, 2026, while the inscription RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA —Republic of Poland— is inscribed along the upper edge and the face value 5 ZŁOTYCH at the bottom. The edge is irregularly reeded and includes the inscription NBP eight times, alternating with stars.

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) continues to expand its Discover Poland series with a new commemorative coin dedicated to one of the country's most unique Renaissance buildings. A 5-zloty coin featuring the Brzeg Town Hall will be put into circulation on November 20, 2025.

With this issue, the collection continues to showcase iconic places that are part of Poland's historical, architectural, and cultural heritage.

In the center of the coin's reverse, on a separate circular plane filled with wavy lines, and partially along the edge, is an image of the northwest side of Brzeg Town Hall. Along the edge, at the top, is the semicircular inscription: RATUSZ W BRZEGU (Brzeg Town Hall); at the bottom, a separate field displays either the inscription: NBP or the year: 2025, depending on the viewing angle.

The obverse features, in the center on a separate circular plane, the image of the Eagle, established as the state emblem of the Republic of Poland. Below the Eagle is a semicircular inscription of the year of minting: 2025. Along the rim, at the top, is a semicircular inscription: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA (Republic of Poland), and at the bottom, the semicircular inscription: 5 ZŁOTYCH, preceded and followed by a small sphere. Below the Eagle, to the right, is the mint mark.

A metal detectorist has discovered a significant coin hoard in a field near Zewierszczów, located in Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship. 

The discovery was made by Mr. Grzegorz Panek, a member of the Hrubieszów Historical – Exploration Association “GROSSUS”.

While investigating a strong signal from his metal detector, Panek uncovered several copper coins just below the surface in a field near Zewierszczów, which quickly proved to be part of a much larger hoard numbering in the thousands.

Upon reporting the find to the conservator’s office in Zamośćm, archaeologists conducted an inspection of the site, however, no traces of further archaeological remains were found in situ.

A preliminary analysis has determined that the coins, numbering around 5,000, were minted between the years 1650–1657, during the reign of King Jan II Kazimierz.

Many of the coins are classified as “boratynki,” small-denomination copper coins named after Tito Livio Burattini, who oversaw their production for both Crown and Lithuanian mints. 

Though of modest value both then and now in collector circles, their sheer quantity makes the discovery a rare glimpse into the region’s monetary circulation of the 17th and 18th centuries.

In addition to the copper pieces, the hoard contained 29 higher-value silver coins. These included six-grosz pieces issued under Jan Kazimierz, as well as coins from the reign of John III Sobieski, Frederick William of Brandenburg, Christian of Woloski, Leopold I, and Joachim VIII.

Experts believe the hoard was likely buried at the beginning of the 18th century, concealed in a canvas bag, where fragments of decomposed fabric were discovered among the coins.

The entire hoard has now been transferred to the Museum in Hrubieszów, where detailed analysis and conservation work will take place to prepare the hoard for public exhibition.
