A new coin has been issued by the Bank of Kazakhstan, in two versions with different faces and in different metal, but with the same design, belonging to the series "Outstanding events and people", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the educator, figure Kazakh public scientist, linguist and Turkologist Akhmet Baytursinuli.

Baytursinuli reformed the Kazakh alphabet. In 1912, he excluded all purely Arabic letters that were not used in the Kazakh language and added letters specific to the Kazakh language. The new alphabet, called Tote jazu (meaning direct writing), is still used by Kazakhs living in China, Afghanistan, and Iran. Baytursinuli also developed the basics of Kazakh and scientific terminology for the definition of Kazakh grammar. In 1937, he was executed by firing squad during the Great Purge.

On the reverse of the coin there is an image of Akhmet Baytursinuli. To his right, framed by a stylized image of a book, are the inscriptions 150 JYL (years) and his name. At the top is the logo of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the year of minting, 2022. At the bottom is an image of a pen, the years in which he lived, 1872 – 1937. At the bottom, under the image The pen bears the legend "Bilim álemdi qutqarady" (Knowledge will save the world).
