In 2025, the Luxembourg Central Bank (BCL) presents a new piece in its “Fauna and Flora in Luxembourg” series, this time dedicated to the European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), one of the most representative mammals of the continent's forests.

The coin, with a face value of 5 euros, is minted in sterling silver (Ag 925) combined with Nordic gold, giving it an attractive two-tone contrast. The issue is limited to just 2,000 pieces, intended primarily for collectors and nature lovers.

Its design features a delicate scene: a female roe deer with her young, a symbol of European wildlife and the importance of ecosystem conservation. The species' scientific name, Capreolus capreolus, is inscribed around the edge.

The reverse of the coin shows a profile portrait of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.
