The Bank of Mexico put into circulation last Friday, September 24, a new 20 peso bill (0.85 euros) that commemorates the Bicentennial of its Independence. The banknote presents improvements in its security, durability and functionality characteristics, as well as graphic motifs that represent the culmination of the historical process of Independence of Mexico, accompanied by reasons of the country's natural heritage.

The obverse represents the triumphal entry of the Army of the Three Guarantees to Mexico City and on the reverse, the mangrove ecosystem with its representative fauna and flora, in a site recognized on the Organization's “World Heritage” list. of the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), as a sample of the natural wealth that is distributed throughout the national territory. Its predominant colors are green and red, it is made of polymer and its dimensions are 120 mm long x 65 mm high.


Obverse: The vignette or main motif of the composition consists of a fragment of the artistic work referenced with the certificate “Solemn and peaceful entry of the Army of the Three Guarantees to Mexico City on September 27 of the memorable year of 1821, whose The author is anonymous and is part of the collection of the Castillo de Chapultepec National History Museum, located in Mexico

Mexico are shown and above, an impression consisting of the figure of the red mangrove flower , a species of flora that is observed
depicted on the reverse of the bill.

A transparent window crosses the bill vertically from whose ends
the green and red colors of the Flag of Mexico flutter; The lower end
reads the year 1821, which corresponds to the consummation of
National Independence, and the upper end the year 2021, alluding to the bicentennial of said historical moment and the year the new banknote was put into circulation. At the center of the window is the number 20 formed with transparent relief, followed by a texture of lines across the width of the bill and two dots at each end.
In the lower left corner, above the second transparent window with the shape of the red mangrove flower, is the multicolored denomination that changes from hue from gold to jade, depending on the visual angle, with numbers 20 inside. Close the composition, in the upper left corner of the banknote, the folio that is in a vertical position, has a uniform size and integrates the series to create a unique identifier.


Reverse: The mangrove ecosystem is illustrated in the Sian
Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, in the state of Quintana Roo, a natural heritage of humanity. At the center of the composition, as the main motif, is the image of a Mexican crocodile, and as a background, the red mangrove and a chocolate heron in flight; Below is the transparent window that crosses the banknote horizontally and has
green and red tones .
