Regardless of whether you are Catholic or not, no one can deny the prestige and good name of Caritas in its work to help those most in need. Created on November 9, 1897 in the German city of Cologne by the prelate Lorenz Werthmann, the organization's main mission is humanitarian aid, development cooperation and social services. Caritas is present in 146 countries, on the five continents. One of them, Poland, has decided to issue a commemorative coin with which to recognize its work on the 30th anniversary of its return to activity within its borders.

Caritas Poland is a charitable pastoral institution of the Catholic Church and the largest social and charitable organization in Poland. It provides professional and multidimensional help to people who suffer exclusion and poverty and go through life with various types of deprivation. Its activities focus on people in need, who are provided with material, psychological and spiritual help. The organization supports in a special way families, children and adolescents, the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, people who suffer from addictions, people who have been released from prison, immigrants and refugees. Work extrapolated to all the countries in which it is present.

The obverse of the coin has a representation of the Good Samaritan helping the aggressed and wounded traveler and a quote from the Gospel of Saint Matthew (Mt 7,20) in the Polish and Latin versions.

The reverse of the coin features the Caritas Poland jubilee logo and an inscription announcing the 30th anniversary of the institution's return to activity.
