As every year, the 30 euro coin raises a lot of expectation both in regular and occasional collectors. This year's one was not going to be less, and although we already knew the subject to which it would be dedicated, which I advanced here on July 4, knowing the image that it will present is almost the most important thing when deciding whether to acquire it. or not. I think that the best assessment is made with the first impact that it gives us the first time we see it, and if I base it on that, I liked it a lot. We will see what you think.

I remind you for those of you who still do not know, that the 2021 € 30 coin is dedicated to "Xacobeo Holy Year 21 - 22". Exceptionally, this Xacobeo is celebrated throughout 2021 and 2022. This decision was the result of the unanimous request that Galicia issued to the Holy See with the aim that pilgrims had the possibility of visiting the Cathedral of Santiago safely despite the current circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the reverse, occupying the central part of the coin, there is an allegorical image of the "road" with a pilgrim and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Above this image, horizontally and in capital letters, the value of the piece 30 EURO, and the mint mark. On the left, in an ascending circular direction, the legend XACOBEO 21 · 22, accompanied by a representation of the pilgrim's staff.

At the bottom left, and within a circle, a scallop shell, 21 · 22, the mint mark and an arrow appear in the form of a quadruple latent image. Surrounding the motives and legends one pearl beading.

On the obverse the superimposed effigies of Their Majesties the Kings Don Felipe VI and Doña Letizia are reproduced. In the upper part of the coin, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend FELIPE VI Y LETIZIA. At the bottom of the coin, in capital letters, the legend ESPAÑA and the year of issue 2021, separated by a fleur de lis. Surrounding the motives and legends one pearl beading.

Characteristics of the coin

Face value: 30 euro
Composition: Silver of 925 thousandths, the rest copper
Weight: 18 g
Diameter: 33 mm
Maximum volume of issue: 1 million
Date of issue: Beginning of November (to be confirmed)

The currency can begin to be reserved in a multitude of commercial banks, and when it is issued, it can be purchased in all branches of the Bank of Spain at its face value, 30 euros. It is not a currency that has liberating power, come on, it cannot be paid with it. What you can do, without a day getting tired of it or need the money, is to exchange it for the 30 euros paid at any Bank of Spain.

My thanks to Domingo López for his collaboration.
