The Perth Mint Australia was the first Mint in the world to issue a series of investment coins representing the 12 animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. First issued in 1996, the Australian Lunar Coin Series is a favorite series among investors and collectors around the world. In 2022, the third coin of the third series of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar is dedicated to the Tiger.

Determination, courage, confidence, and charm are some of the powerful traits often associated with people born under their influence in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, and 2022.

Two designs mark the Year of the Tiger. The gold and platinum coins show an intrepid tiger perched on a rock in what could be its natural habitat, demonstrating this imposing creature's reputation as king of the mountains. The silver coins show a tiger cub following his proud and protective father across rocky terrain.

The Silver Coin will be available in the following weights: 10 kilos, 1 kilo, 5 ounces, 2 ounces, 1 ounce and 1/2 ounce.

Except for the 10 kilos (100 pieces) and the 1 ounce (300,000 pieces) coins, for the rest the issue volume is unlimited. 

The Gold Coin will be available in the following weights: 10 ounces, 2 ounces, 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/10 ounce and 1/20 ounce.

Except for the 30,000 that will be minted of 1 ounce, for the rest of gold coins the volume is unlimited. 

There is only a 1-ounce version of the platinum coin, its mintage is limited to 5,000.

The obverse of all the coins show Jody Clark's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the weight and fineness and the face of the coin.

All coins are backed and guaranteed by the Australian government itself. They are made of 99.99% pure gold, silver also 99.99% pure and platinum 99.95%.

The coins will be available in Australia from September 13, 2021.
