Between 2016 and 2020, a series of coins called "Eternal Sculptures" has been issued in which some of the most famous sculptures created by man have been represented. As a final piece that completes this innovative series, also winking on its obverse to the rest of the coins, one dedicated to the "Ecstasy of Saint Teresa" is issued a marble sculpture group by the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini, considered one of the works. masters of high Roman baroque sculpture.
The coins in this series, and of course the one that I present to you today, have a high relief thanks to Smartminting technology, which also simulates marble that transports us to the sculpture itself. The five coins that made up the series until now were made up of two ounces of silver and a diameter of 39 mm; the one we present today is made up of five ounces of silver and is no less than 65mm in size.
The reverse of the coin reproduces an incredible frontal view of Gian Lorenzo Bernini's famous sculpture, Ecstasy of Saint Teresa . The coin features exceptional high relief and the use of a special paint to recreate the natural marble look of the sculpture, thus emphasizing the extraordinary beauty of this miniature work of art. Around the edge of the reverse, a floral decorative pattern is displayed. On the right side appears the logo of the series and the inscriptions: «ETERNAL SCULPTURES», name of the series and «ECSTASY OF SAINT TERESA», name of the coin.
The impressive obverse shows in perfect miniatures the other five coins in the series, with the Coat of Arms of Palau in the center and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIC OF PALAU”, as the name of the issuing country and “20 DOLLARS”, as the face value.
The coin is presented in a case like the one you can see in the image, along with its certificate of authenticity. The circulation is very limited, only 499 units.
