Another new series of coins that is beginning and that I believe will have the approval of many collectors, its first piece has just been presented and put on sale. This is a series issued by the Royal Mint under the name "Myths and Legends", they are coins of the so-called bullion or investment type, consisting of one ounce of silver or one ounce of gold, depending on the version, although the design is the same as same for both.

Centuries after his stories were first told around British campfires and homes, The Royal Mint extols the legendary hero Robin Hood. The iconic character, who stole from the rich to give to the poor, appears on the first coin of a new collection inspired by myths and legends. The medieval English folklore hero will soon be followed by two more coins inspired by the stories of the intrepid outlaw, featuring the brave heroine Lady Marian and Robin Hood's trusted companion, Little John.

Transmitted by the oral traditions of the time, the stories of this heroic rebel have spread everywhere since the 14th century. Robin Hood was often described as a great archer, and the character's description by the designer of the coin, Jody Clark, shows him hiding among the branches of Sherwood Forest, poised with a bow and arrow ready for action.

The obverse of the coin shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England, also by Jody Clark.
