Well in advance of the issue of the first coin in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, dedicated to the famous films starring Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), I am going to present you the first piece of this collection that will go on sale during the next April and that corresponds to the first film in the saga. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
All the coins in the series will be made up of one ounce of silver or one ounce of gold, with very limited editions, 15,000 and 250 respectively.
The coin features an image of the ship La Perla Negra, along with a stylized representation of the pirate Jack Sparrow. The main legends are: "THE BLACK PEARL" and "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN". The captions, in the lower semicircle, refer to the metal content and its purity, in addition to the Disney copyright mark.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by artist Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the name of the country and its face value.
The coin has been minted by the private New Zealand Mint company located in Auckland, New Zealand, which buys precious metals from international sources and then produces coins. The name of the issuing country that appears on the coin is the Island of Niue.
