The second star for the Spanish national team will also be featured on a coin. Numismática Visual has confirmed that the Royal Mint of Spain is preparing a coin dedicated to Spain's victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The broadcast will take place over the next few days and will celebrate the second world title of the Spanish national team, won sixteen years after that unforgettable victory in South Africa 2010.
For now, we can confirm that it will be a coin, although the possibility of an additional coin being announced later is not ruled out. Its design, maximum mintage, sale price, and exact issue date have not yet been revealed.
The 2026 World Cup coins that can still be bought
The future champions' coin should not be confused with the collection that Spain already issued in 2025 to mark the celebration of the 2026 World Cup.
Those coins were created before the competition and were dedicated to the championship that just ended. The new coin will have a completely different meaning: it will commemorate Spain's victory in the tournament and their second star.
The previous collection consists of three coins, which are still available in many numismatic shops.
8 silver reales
The most affordable option is a 925 fine silver coin that shows a footballer making a play next to the official image of the tournament.
It has a face value of 10 euros, weighs 27 grams, measures 40 millimeters, and features a Proof finish with colored appliqués. Its maximum mintage is 6,000 copies, and it currently has a price of 145 euros.
Two gold coins
The second coin is minted in 999 fine gold. Its reverse depicts a goalkeeper stopping a ball represented as a globe.
It weighs 6.75 grams, has a diameter of 23 millimeters, and a face value of 100 euros. Its mintage was limited to 1,500 units, and its current price is 1,260 euros.
One ounce of gold
The most valuable coin in the series contains one ounce of 999.9 fine gold. Its reverse depicts a footballer kicking a ball alongside elements of the World Cup's visual identity.
It weighs 31.104 grams, has a diameter of 37.20 millimeters, and a face value of 400 euros. Only 800 copies were authorized, and it currently sells for 4,760 euros.
From commemorating the World Cup to celebrating that Spain won it
The 2025 coin collection commemorated the first World Cup co-hosted by three countries and the debut of a 48-team format. The new coin will tell the story of the outcome that no one could have predicted back then: Spain ended up lifting the World Cup.
It will also be the first Spanish coin specifically dedicated to the national team's second star. Its unveiling will reveal the image chosen by the Royal Mint to represent a victory that now stands alongside the one achieved in South Africa in 2010.
