The Royal Mint presents a new 50p coin dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Dennis the Menace, the unforgettable character created by cartoonist David Law.
This issue gives space to one of the most mischievous and long-running icons of children's comics in the United Kingdom, celebrating more than seven decades of adventure, humor and rebellious spirit.
REVERSE
The reverse of the coin, featuring an original design created by Beano Studios, depicts Dennis in his classic black and red sweater, accompanied by his furry friend Gnasher. On the right side of the design is the commemorative inscription celebrating the 75th anniversary of this beloved cartoon: "75 YEARS OF Dennis."
50 pence coin
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III, sculpted by Martin Jennings. Around the effigy are several inscriptions: the face value—50 pence—, the year of issue “2026”, and the Latin inscription “DG REX. FD”. These initials stand for Dei Gratia Rex and Fidei Defensor, meaning “King by the Grace of God” and “Defender of the Faith”, respectively.
PRESENTATION
The coins are available in packages that include a comic strip created by Beano Studios exclusively for their release.
The comic strip depicts Dennis and Gnasher's quick visit to the Royal Mint.
