Next Monday, March 18, the National Mint and Stamp Factory – Royal Mint issues the third Spanish gold coin of one-tenth of an ounce, dedicated this year to the Carthusian Horse.The Caballo Cartujano is not a differentiated equine breed, but an offspring of the pure Spanish horse
and is considered the purest breed that exists, with one of the oldest genealogical books in the world. The Carthusian lineage has its origins in the Jerez monastery of La Cartuja, which since 1484 and for at least three and a half centuries became the epicenter of the breeding of an elite Andalusian horse and headquarters of one of the most famous and appreciated stud farms. With this coin and its predecessors, the aim is to project the image of our country and our culture, with the choice on the reverse of animals representative of Spain, and an image of the columnar, an unequivocal symbol of the historical Spanish silver coin world-renowned within numismatic culture.

On the obverse, the motifs and legends of a royal of eight, of a columnar type, are reproduced: two hemispheres under a royal crown, flanked by the columns of Hercules with the motto PLUS VLTRA, all on a sea with waves. At the top, in a circular direction and in capital letters, the legend Felipe VI King of Spain appears. At the bottom of the coin, in a circular sense, the legend 1/10 Ounce 999.9 Gold.

On the reverse of the coin, an image of a horse is reproduced. To its left, in an ascending circular direction and in capital letters, the legend Caballo Cartujano appears, along with the Mint mark and the year of minting 2024.
