For those who collect coins with aircraft motifs we have an interesting and affordable novelty, it is the ninth piece in the series dedicated to the "Armed Forces of Ukraine". This coin, of which 1 million pieces have been issued, can be purchased in Ukraine at its face value, 10 hryvnia (about 30 euro cents).

The Ukrainian armed forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) are mostly made up of soldiers doing compulsory military service. Since its independence in 1991, hundreds of its members have participated and still do in various international conflicts under the command of the United Nations or in conjunction with NATO troops. At present it is made up of some 180,000 active personnel and 1,000,000 in the reserve.

 

The reverse of the coin shows a combat aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on a background with the outline of an old aircraft, also combat: The legends are ПОВІТРЯНІ / СИЛИ «Air Forces», on a matte background, and ЗБРОЙНИХ / СИЛ / УКРАЇН «Armed Forces of Ukraine», on mirror background.

 

The obverse of the coin shows: the shield of Ukraine (left), the inscription UKRAINE (above in a semicircle); the year of issue 2020 (right); in the center, the image of the emblem of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under which, appears the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine and the face value 10 hryvnia.
