Today August 27, the Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico de San Marino has issued, in addition to the 2 euro commemorative coin for the "250th anniversary of the death of Giambattista Tiepolo," three new pieces in the series dedicated to the Signs of the Zodiac. Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, are the three signs that join those issued in 2018 (Aries and Taurus), and 2019 (Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo).
This series of coins is put on sale at the same price of its face value in San Marino, 5 euros, they are minted on an alloy of bronze, copper and aluminum, and they present some quite attractive designs.
The image shows the coins that have just been issued, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, together with the common obverse of the entire series.
The reverse of the coins show in the central part a stylized image of the sign to which it is dedicated. The astrological sign of Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius, is represented ten times along the perimeter of the coin, with the year of mintage at the top, and the face value, 5 euro, at the bottom.
The obverse of the coins shows the sun in the center, with the lunar phases around it. The image of the sun is surrounded by three feathers, which symbolize the Republic of San Marino, and by the twelve astrological signs along the perimeter.
