If there is a country that likes to show off its military potential, military feats or various issues within the military sphere, this is Russia. As it also has a great numismatic tradition, many of the coins they issue tend to reflect this debatable pride they feel related to wars, battles, weapons ... The last issue of a coin of this type dates back to August 12 when they put into circulation a 5 ruble coin to commemorate the "Kuril Islands Landing Operation of 1945", carried out from August 18 to September 2 during the Soviet-Japanese War of 1945.

The reverse of the coin shows a relief image of the Monument to the Soldiers of the Soviet Army - Liberators of the Kuril Islands in 1945, in memory of the Soviet soldiers who died during the operation; Along the edge of the circumference are the inscriptions 'КУРИЛЬСКАЯ ДЕСАНТНАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ' (LANDING OPERATION IN THE KURILE ISLANDS) and '1945 г.'.

On the obverse of the coin, in the center it shows the face value '5 РУБЛЕЙ' (5 RUBLES) and below, 'БАНК РОССИИ' (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part is the year of issue '2020', on the left and right feature stylized images of plant branches, and on the right side of the coin is the mint mark of the Moscow Mint.
