Belgium has finally put its commemorative 2-euro coin for sale this year, dedicated, as I told you in a previous post, to celebrate the year of Art Nouveau in Belgium, an important current of artistic renewal that in Spain we also know as " modernism".

The coin has a maximum circulation of 155,000 units. 150,ooo are distributed on coincards in BU quality in Dutch or French, while the other 5,000 coins are available in proof quality and are presented in a box.

The motif on this coin shows a decorative detail on the façade of the Hotel Van Eetvelde, an emblematic house in Brussels designed by Victor Horta, a Belgian architect of the art nouveau movement, and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The curved and asymmetrical lines of the decorative detail reflect the characteristic style of the Art Nouveau movement, inspired by nature. This detail occupies the lower half of the coin, leaving an empty space in the upper half, which is completed with the legend "ART NOUVEAU".

On the far right are the initials of the designer, Iris Bruijns. Also shown are the Utrecht mint mark, a caduceus, on the far left, next to the mint mark of the director of the Belgian Mint, an aster flower in front of an Erlenmeyer flask, the country code BE and the year of issue 2023.
