As we announced here, on August 4, Lithuania will issue a commemorative 2-euro coin in support of Ukraine in 2023 under the name “Together with Ukraine”. Today I can reveal the design of this coin and some additional information about the issue.
The national side of the commemorative 2 euro coin “Together with Ukraine”, designed by Eglė Žemaitė, features a stylized sunflower with petals reminiscent of silhouettes of people holding hands, embracing and protecting each other, embodying unity, support and power to be together Using artistic means, the sunflower is designed as the Rising Sun, the hope of a new beginning, and as birds, freedom, hope and courage, as people who rise above circumstances, never accepting any will. forced, is an allusion to those who have sacrificed their lives and departing souls.
The composition is surrounded by the inscriptions LIETUVA (LITHUANIA), KARTU SU UKRAINA (TOGETHER WITH UKRAINE), the year of issue (2023) and the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint. On the outer ring of the coin are the twelve stars of the European Union flag.
The edge of the coin, like all those issued by Lithuania in this value, has the legends: LAISVĖ * VIENYBĖ * GEROVĖ * (FREEDOM * UNITY * WELL-BEING *).
The issue volume will be 500,000 coins, 450,000 for circulation and the rest in presentations for collectors.
The expected broadcast date will be during the spring of 2023.
