Ukraine's commercial justice system is featured on the new commemorative coin issued by the National Bank of Ukraine on May 28.

The issue celebrates the 35th anniversary of the creation of the system of specialized courts responsible for resolving disputes related to economic activity, a judicial structure that has decisively contributed to the development of the legal framework that regulates business relations and the protection of the country's economic interests.

The commercial court system is much more than a judicial structure designed to resolve commercial disputes. It constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of a modern state, where the law acts as a guarantee of fair competition, business stability, and economic protection. Its scope of action encompasses issues that directly influence business activity, the investment climate, and public trust in institutions.

The history of commercial justice in Ukraine has deep roots. As early as the 19th century, commercial courts operated in Ukrainian territories—then part of various states—to resolve commercial disputes between businesses. After the restoration of independence, Ukraine established its own system of arbitration tribunals, which later evolved into the current system of commercial courts.

The contemporary model of commercial justice was shaped through judicial reforms and is organized into three levels: local commercial courts, commercial appeal courts, and the Commercial Cassation Court of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.

Today, commercial courts handle a wide range of matters, from corporate disputes and insolvency proceedings to the protection of property rights and the state's economic interests. It is within this framework that the legal mechanisms are established that allow companies to operate transparently and the state to maintain economic stability, even in challenging times.

Commercial courts have acquired particular importance in the context of the contemporary challenges facing Ukraine. They have become a fundamental tool for ensuring economic resilience, protecting investments, and restoring fairness to legal and economic relations. The development of entrepreneurship and Ukraine's integration into the global economy depend heavily on the effectiveness of this system.

At the bottom are the inscription “UKRAINE,” the face value, and the year of minting, “2026.”

Reverse

The reverse of the coin depicts an architectural column symbolizing the strength of the Ukrainian legal system. To the left of the column are the inscriptions "35," referring to the anniversary, and "UKRAINE COMMERCIAL JUSTICE."
