Russian numismatics has added a new piece to one of its most emblematic collections. The Bank of Russia has issued a commemorative 10-ruble coin dedicated to the Chuvash Republic, one of the republics that make up the Russian Federation. The issue took place on June 5, 2026, as part of the well-known "Russian Federation" series, which for years has showcased the country's diverse regions, republics, and territories.
The coin retains the characteristic format of the 10-ruble pieces in this series, with a central core surrounded by an outer ring. This configuration, similar to that used in the 2-euro coins, has made these issues some of the most popular among Russian collectors.
The obverse features the standard design of the modern 10-ruble note. The face value occupies the center, accompanied by stylized plant motifs and the year of issue, 2026. The inscriptions identifying the Bank of Russia as the issuing entity are also included.
The reverse side is entirely dedicated to the Chuvash Republic. Its official coat of arms is reproduced in the center, while the inscriptions "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (Russian Federation) and "ЧУВАШСКАЯ РЕСПУБЛИКА" (Chuvash Republic) can be read around it.
Located in the middle Volga region, Chuvashia is one of Russia's most unique republics. Its population preserves its own Turkic language and a distinct cultural identity reflected in numerous elements of its historical and artistic heritage. It is precisely this cultural richness that the Bank of Russia has sought to highlight with this new coin.
The mintage reaches one million pieces, a typical figure for modern issues of this series. Although intended for circulation, many coins quickly end up in private collections, where Russian regional coins enjoy great popularity both domestically and internationally.
