On the occasion of the birth of Prince François on March 27, 2023 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg maternity hospital, the Luxembourg grand ducal family has a new member. Prince François Henri Louis Marie Guillaume is the second son of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie, joining his older brother Charles. The little boy currently occupies third place in the line of succession to the throne of Luxembourg, behind his father and his older brother.
In honor of this happy birth, the Central Bank of Luxembourg issues a collector's coin made up of one ounce of pure silver. The coin has been minted by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Munten of the Netherlands and is delivered in a case with a certificate of authenticity. It is available in a limited edition of only 1000 pieces.
The obverse of the coin shows in the center a representation of the footprints of the child's two feet, surrounding the monogram of the heir couple, Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie. The left side shows in circular form the inscription “SAR DE PRËNZ FRANÇOIS” (His Royal Highness THE PRINCE FRANÇOIS). At the top right the date of birth “27.3.2023” is shown. The right side of the coin shows the face value “25 EURO”.
The reverse shows the image of the head of state, Grand Duke Enri, looking to the right, the name of the issuing country, Luxembourg, and the year of issue, 2023.
