This year marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Alejandro Manzoni, one of the most important writers of Italian literature. The Vatican State Mint celebrates this anniversary with the issuance of two coins: the bimetallic 2 euro coin (in double flower mint and Proof version) and the rectangular colored silver 25 euro coin, which I will present to Blog subscribers . The 2 euro coin, designed by artist Gabriella Titotto, shows the writer's face in the center with his signature below; On the right, behind the inkwell and the pen, is the incipit (a set of words that appear at the beginning of a piece of writing) of the famous historical novel “I Promessi Sposi” (The Bride and Groom). 67,000 coins in FDC quality will be offered to subscribers to the Vatican issues for €18 plus shipping costs.

9,500 coins in Proof quality will be offered only to some subscribers for €37 plus shipping costs.

The issuance volume of the coin is 82,500, until this figure is completed, the so-called Busta (philatelic-numismatic set that includes one of these coins in BU quality) will be issued later.
