On October 11, the second commemorative 2-euro coin that Slovakia has put into circulation in 2023 has been issued. This new coin is dedicated to the "200th anniversary of the beginning of the horse-drawn mail route Vienna - Bratislava."
The coin's design symbolically represents the express mail service between Vienna and Bratislava, with a horse-drawn stagecoach in motion and a rectangular box in the center containing a postal horn. Below the image is inscribed the year "1823", the date on which the express mail service began to operate, and below that date are the names of the cities in Slovak, "VIEDEŇ" and "BRATISLAVA", one above the other . At the bottom of the inner circle of the coin appears the year of issue "2023", separated from the previous text by a horizontal line. The name of the issuing country, "SLOVENSKO", is inscribed on the top edge of the design. To the right of the float is the mark of the Kremnica Mint (Mincovňa Kremnica), consisting of the letters "MK" placed between two dies. Just below the branding are the stylized initials "MP", a reference to the national team's designer, Mária Poldaufová. The twelve stars of the European flag appear on the outer ring of the coin.
The Slovak Mint, Mincovňa Kremnica, has minted one million of these coins, 5,000 in Proof quality presented like the image above, 4,000 in BU quality on a coincard like the one in the image below. The rest are intended for circulation.
