Among the coins issued by The Royal Mint for the year 2026 in its annual series, and adding to the issues already announced, a new piece with a face value of 5 pounds is incorporated to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, born on April 21, 1926.

This coin is distinguished by its careful design work, in which symbolic elements such as the royal monogram of the late monarch and the representation of St. Edward's Crown stand out.

Obverse

The obverse of the coin features the official portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, a design that has become standard on recent UK coin issues. The realistic portrait depicts the monarch facing left, in keeping with the British tradition of alternating the direction of the portrait with the previous sovereign. Surrounding the image is the inscription with the monarch's name and titles, along with the coin's face value and the year of minting, "2026".

Reverse

On the reverse side, a work by Timothy Noad, is a vegetal motif inspired by the ironwork of the East Door of St. George's Chapel, the site of the Queen's tomb. Surrounding the design are one hundred small beads, each a symbolic representation of the year since her birth. The scene is framed not only by the Queen's name and the anniversary years, but also by the Latin inscription "Exaltabitur in gloria" (She shall be exalted in glory).
