Apa pentru răni a lui Theden

Unele preparate farmaceutice poartă numele celor care le-au inventat. În cazul acestui recipient, autorul rețetei este Johann Anton Theden (1714-1797), chirurg general al armatei prusace și medicul personal al lui Frederic cel Mare (și conform epocii, și alchimist și francmason). Deși a început ca simplu ucenic de bărbier, Theden a ajuns un chirurg important. El a inventat cateterului elastic, dezvoltarea unei noi metode de oprire a sângerării (hemostază) și introducerea atelajelor tubulare utilizate în tratamentul fracturilor.
El este autorul mai multor preparate farmaceutice, printre care și Aqua vulneraria Thedenii. Aceasta conținea alcool etilic, oțet de vin, acid sulfuric diluat și zahăr, fiind menită tratării rănilor și opririi sângerării.

Egyes gyógyszerészeti készítmények alkotóik nevét viselik. E tárolóedény esetében a recept feltalálója Johann Anton Theden (1714–1797), a porosz hadsereg fősebésze és Nagy Frigyes személyes orvosa (kora szellemének megfelelően alkimista és szabadkőműves is volt). Bár pályafutását egyszerű borbélyinasként kezdte, Theden jelentős sebésszé vált. Ő találta fel a rugalmas katétert, kidolgozott egy új módszert a vérzés elállítására (hemostasis), valamint bevezette az üreges sínek alkalmazását a csonttörések kezelésében.
Számos gyógyszerészeti készítmény feltalálója volt, köztük az Aqua vulneraria Thedeni-é is. Ez a szer etil-alkoholt, borecetet, hígított kénsavat és cukrot tartalmazott, és sebek kezelésére, valamint a vérzés csillapítására szolgált.

Theden’s Wound Water
Some pharmaceutical preparations bear the names of their inventors. In the case of this vessel, the author of the recipe is Johann Anton Theden (1714–1797), Surgeon General of the Prussian Army and personal physician to Frederick the Great (and, in keeping with the spirit of the age, also an alchemist and Freemason). Although he began his career as a simple barber’s apprentice, Theden rose to become an important surgeon. He invented the elastic catheter, developed a new method for stopping bleeding (hemostasis), and introduced the use of tubular splints in the treatment of bone fractures.
He was the author of several pharmaceutical preparations, among them Aqua vulneraria Thedenii. This remedy contained ethyl alcohol, wine vinegar, diluted sulfuric acid, and sugar, and was intended for the treatment of wounds and the control of bleeding.
