To mark the 125th anniversary of the electric tram in Bulgaria, the National Bank of Bulgaria (BNB) issued a silver collector's coin on January 26th that highlights the historical importance of this means of transport in the country's urban development.
Obverse
The obverse of the coin features an antique lamppost in the center; to the left is the BNB logo with the year "1879" on the band and the year of issue "2026" below. On the right side of the design is the face value of the coin, "10 ЕВРО" (10 euros), in two lines, and the semicircular inscription "БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА" (National Bank of Bulgaria).
Reverse
The reverse of the coin shows a representation of the first electric tram, accompanied by several inscriptions. At the top is the legend "125 GODINI" (125 years), arranged in two lines; below appears the year "1901", while in the upper and lower areas of the design, it reads "ЕЛЕКТРИЧЕСКИ ТРАМВАЙ В БЪЛГАРИЯ" (Electric tram in Bulgaria).
