A new US dollar coin is scheduled to be issued on January 27, 2026, with a commemorative design dedicated to the Valley Forge Oneida Tribe in recognition of their historic role as allies during the American Revolutionary War.

This issue is part of the Native American Dollar program, an initiative of the United States Mint that has been in effect since 2009. Through this series, one-dollar coins are produced with annually renewed reverses, each one focused on highlighting the cultural, social, and political contributions of indigenous tribes and Native American peoples to the development of the country.

With each new installment, the program seeks to disseminate and preserve the historical memory of these nations, integrating their legacy within the American monetary heritage.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin depicts an Oneida woman (Polly Cooper) who, along with her tribe, helped the struggling Continental Army achieve independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.

Framing this scene are also the inscriptions of the issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "POLLY COOPER", and in the lower area the face value of 1 dollar and the inscription "ONEIDA ALLIES AT VALLEY FORGE".

Obverse

The familiar obverse of this coin series depicts Sacagawea alongside her son, Jean Baptiste. A Shoshonee woman, Sacagawea actively participated in a pivotal expedition to the exploration of the American continent, contributing her expertise as a guide. Due to the lack of historical portraits that would reveal her true appearance, the features used on the coin are those of Randy'L He-dow Teton, a contemporary Shoshone woman.

The central image is also accompanied by the inscription "LIBERTY" at the top and the legend on the left side "IN GOD E TRUST".

The technical information of the coin, as well as the year it was issued, the mint mark and the legend "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Out of many, one), is engraved on its edge.
