Among the new circulation issues released by The Royal Mint for 2026, we find, alongside those already presented, a particularly significant coin, dedicated to commemorating the 50th anniversary of The King's Trust, one of the most important charitable entities in the country.
This time, the issue presented is a 50 pence cupronickel coin that honors half a century of social work by this institution, recognized for its support of young people in vulnerable situations.
Obverse
The obverse of the coin features the official portrait of King Charles III, sculpted by Martin Jennings, a design now common on recent UK issues. The portrait, in a sober and realistic style, shows the monarch looking to the left, following the British tradition of reversing the direction of the bust compared to the previous monarch. Around the figure is inscribed the name of the monarch, his titles, the face value of the coin, and the year of issue, "2026".
Reverse
The reverse of the coin displays the inscription "The King's Trust" arranged in three lines, incorporating small human figures into some of the letters, illustrating various everyday activities such as working on a laptop, repairing a bicycle, resting on a bench, or rowing a boat, all against a background of sun and clouds. At the top of the design is The King's Trust logo, formed by three human silhouettes that together create a crown, while in the lower left corner appear the designer's initials, "JG," for Jessica Gregorio. At the bottom is the inscription "50 YEARS WORKING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE," commemorating fifty years of dedication to youth.
