Spain commemorative 2 euro coins 2026

Spain and disability: protection, rights and inclusion

This commemorative coin has a strong social and institutional significance, as it is dedicated to the reform of Article 49 of the Spanish Constitution, a historic change aimed at strengthening legal protection, equality and full inclusion of people with disabilities.

The obverse features an image of hands holding a book, a direct symbol of the Constitution. Above it appears the inscription "Article 49 INCLUSION," which emphasizes the new constitutional approach, centered on dignity, rights, and non-discrimination. To the left is written "SPAIN," while to the right are the year 2026 and the FNMT (Spanish Royal Mint) mark. The entire design is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union, a symbol of unity, solidarity, and shared values.

With this issue, Spain once again uses the 2 euro coin as a tool for social awareness, aligning itself with European principles of equality, accessibility and respect for human rights.

Maximum print run: 1,500,000 pieces.

World Heritage Site – Poblet Monastery

The second commemorative €2 coin from Spain, issued in 2026, is part of the renowned World Heritage series, dedicated to promoting Spanish sites inscribed on the UNESCO list. This time, the focus is on the Monastery of Poblet, located in the province of Tarragona.

Declared a World Heritage Site in 1991, the Monastery of Poblet is one of the most important Cistercian monastic complexes in Europe and a key symbol of the medieval history of the Crown of Aragon. Founded in the 12th century, the monastery served as the royal pantheon for the kings of Aragon and played a fundamental role in both religious and political life.

Maximum print run: 1,500,000 pieces.

The obverse of the coin features a representative image of the monastery. At the top, in capital letters and following the circular shape, is the inscription MONASTERIO DE POBLET , while at the bottom appear ESPAÑA and the year of minting, 2026, along with the mint mark. Surrounding the design are the twelve stars of the European Union, integrating the coin into the common euro.

Maximum print run: 1,500,000 pieces.
