Yesterday, October 10, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic announced the issuance of its coin corresponding to the XIII Ibero-American Series – Ibero-American Capitals, a coin that represents the city of Buenos Aires with the image of the Puente de la Mujer.

The central motif on the obverse of the coin features the Puente de la Mujer, which is a synthesis of the image of a couple dancing the tango. The white mast symbolises the man, and the curved silhouette, the woman. This urban landmark was inaugurated on 20 December 2001 and is the first work in Latin America by civil engineer and architect Santiago Calatrava.

It is located in Dock 3 of Puerto Madero and is built of steel and reinforced concrete. With a length of 170 metres and a width of 6.20 metres, it has two fixed sections and a rotating section that opens to allow the passage of sailing vessels that navigate through the docks.

The upper semicircle bears the legend “XIII IBERO-AMERICAN CAPITAL SERIES” and the lower one, “BUENOS AIRES”.

The obverse of the coin shows the Argentine National Coat of Arms in the center, surrounded by the coats of arms of all the countries participating in this edition: Argentina, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal and Nicaragua. At the bottom of the National Coat of Arms is the face value “$25” and the year of issue “2024”.
