The truth is that the coin I am presenting to you today is anything but conventional, neither for its face value, 4 euros, nor for the reason it is dedicated to, “80th anniversary of the founding of Coldiretti”. Coldiretti is an Italian agricultural organisation founded by Paolo Bonomi in 1944 in defence of farmers.
Let's look at the coin and then we'll learn more about the subject it is dedicated to.
English:Obverse: in the centre there is a representation of the Coldiretti logo, i.e. a yellow spade on a green background, inside which are drawn three intertwined ears of wheat, also in green. Below, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA” and, smaller, “EFMOD”. In the upper circle is written “COLDIRETTI” and to the left and right are the two dates respectively “1944”, the year of foundation, and “2024”, the year of minting of the coin. In the lower part is written in italics “…la forza amica del Paese” (…the friendly force of the country).
