To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Georges Méliès' Voyage to the Moon (Le voyage dans la lune) being screened for the first time, what is considered to be the first science fiction film in history, a precious coin is issued that captures one of the the most iconic moments in cinema of all time, the moment in which the rocket crashes into one of the Moon's eyes. 

The film, which is among the most influential in cinema history, tells the story of a group of men who take a giant bullet-shaped capsule to the moon. The six men land safely at their destination. They discover that many things on the moon are wonderful and fantastic, but also that many are not what they would have liked to find, since they endanger their lives. In order to get home safely, they must figure out how to escape their alien tether.

The reverse of the coin is inspired by the original movie poster, released in 1902. The design represents the moment the capsule hits the moon in the eye. The capsule is polished, has a metallic bright red coloration and bears the Power Coin logo. The surface of the Moon and all the lunar craters have been captured in a spectacular way, thanks to the Sartminting Ultra High Relief technology, as well as the face of the Moon and the area of ​​impact of the bullet. A clever use of shading gives this striking artwork a texture and makes the craters appear deeper.

The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of Palau and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIC OF PALAU”, as the issuing country, and “10$”, for its face value.
