In this 2021 celebrates the 200 ° anniversary of the birth of the great Russian classic of world literature novelist, Fyodor Dostoyevsky. To commemorate the anniversary, the Bank of Russia has issued a commemorative silver coin with a face of 2 rubles.
His ideas marked the movements of modernism, existentialism, theology and literary criticism, as well as numerous schools of psychology. His work is considered prophetic due to the precision with which he predicted the rise of the Russian revolutionaries to power. He was also a renowned short story writer, editor, and journalist, able to alternate the darkest shadows of the human heart with unmatched moments of illumination.
During his life he wrote works that placed him at the top of world literature, such as Crime and Punishment, The Player or The Karamázov Brothers. Together with Tolstoy, he was the main person in charge of making Russian literature known and admired throughout the world.
The reverse of the coin features relief images of the portrait of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, a candle and a book, on a background showing the city of Saint Petersburg and a manuscript. At the bottom is the signature of the writer and the years in which he lived "1821" to "1881".
The obverse of the coin shows a relief image of the Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, on the edge is the semicircular inscription 'РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ' (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed on both sides by interlocking rhombuses.
