Surely you all remember the movie The Lion King and within this one of the parts that most captivated us, in which Timón and Pumbaa sang that of "Hakuna Matata", something that has been recorded in the collective memory of millions of people like an iconic phrase with which we say no to sadness, and we try to enjoy life to the fullest.
Hakuna matata is a phrase from the Swahili language, an African language spoken mostly in Tanzania and Kenya, which we could translate as "no problem" or "don't worry, be happy." This is the chorus of the famous song composed by Elton John and Tim Rice, with which Timon and Pumbaa try to make Simba see that he must leave the past behind and live a present full of new goals that he will soon discover.
The one I present to you today is the third coin in this series dedicated to the Lion King, one of which was issued in 2019 and another in 2020, which also featured two other memorable scenes from this Disney animated film, released on June 24, 1994 in its classic version and in 2019 in a version created with the help of the most advanced digital techniques.
The coin features an adult Simba with Timon and Pumbaa represented walking proudly through a fallen log, with a huge full moon in the background. At the bottom we see the metal content and its purity as well as the Disney copyright mark.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the name of the country and its face value.
The coin has been minted by the New Zealand Mint, a private company located in Auckland, New Zealand, which buys precious metals from international sources and then produces coins. The name of the issuing country which is the Island of Niue.
There are two versions with the same design for the coin, in one ounce of silver or one ounce of gold. It has a fairly limited circulation, only 25,000 pieces for the silver one and 250 for the gold one. The coins will be issued during the month of September and can be purchased on many of the numismatic websites that are advertised here.
