Greutate sub formă de picior antropomorf

În prima jumătate a lunii martie 2026, Muzeul Județean Olt din Slatina aduce în atenția publicului o piesă de tip greutate, sub formă de picior antropomorf. Artefactul a fost descoperit în situl „Ogașul lui Ioniță Țiganul” de la Brebeni (județul Olt), un obiectiv arheologic de tip tell, cercetat între anii 1964 și 1967 de către Mihail Butoi. Piesa se încadrează în perioada eneolitică, respectiv în cultura Sălcuța, și se păstrează în expoziția de arheologie a instituției.

𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐞: Greutatea a fost confecționată dintr-o singură bucată de lut, modelată manual. Piesa este masivă, având o secțiune oarecum ovală în partea superioară și o bază aproximativ rectangulară. În compoziția pastei se observă pietricele, cuarț mărunțit și urme de materiale organice. Pentru a putea fi suspendată, greutatea a fost perforată în partea superioară, orificiul având un aspect bitronconic. Talpa este redată simplu, printr-o lățire care sugerează aproximativ forma labei piciorului uman.
Arderea bună, parțial oxidantă, a imprimat o culoare brun-cărămizie atât la interior, cât și la exterior. Artefactul, din pastă semifină și cu suprafața aspră la atingere, a fost întregit prin restaurare (restaurator: Ion Marinică).

𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭̦𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐚:: Astfel de greutăți din lut ars, cu elemente antropomorfe, puteau fi folosite la războiul de țesut sau pentru scufundarea plasei de pescuit. În cazul piesei de la Brebeni – „Ogașul lui Ioniță Țiganul”, prima variantă, aceea a provenienței de la un război de țesut vertical, pare mai plauzibilă. Orificiul prezintă urme de utilizare, ceea ce indică faptul că greutatea a fost suspendată pe o fibră textilă. Particularitatea acestei greutăți – modelarea stilizată sub forma piciorului uman – ar putea sugera și o anumită simbolistică, eventual legată de latura spirituală a comunităților aparținând culturii Sălcuța.

In the first half of March 2026, the Olt County Museum in Slatina brings to the publicʼs attention a weight-type piece in the form of an anthropomorphic foot. The artefact was discovered at the ‟Ogașul lui Ioniță Țiganul” site in Brebeni (Olt County), a tell-type archaeological site excavated between 1964 and 1967 by Mihail Butoi. The piece dates back to the Eneolithic period, specifically to the Sălcuța culture, and is preserved in the institutionʼs archaeology exhibition.
𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞: Weight.
𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞: Weight in the form of an anthropomorphic foot.

𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The weight was made from a single piece of clay, hand-modelled. The piece is massive, having a somewhat oval section in the upper part and an approximately rectangular base. The composition of the paste includes small pebbles, crushed quartz, and traces of organic materials. To allow it to be suspended, the weight was perforated in the upper part, the hole having a bitronconic appearance. The sole is rendered simply by a widening that roughly suggests the shape of the sole of the human foot.
A good, partially oxidising firing has imparted a brownish-brick colour both inside and out. The artefact, made of semi-fine paste with a rough surface to the touch, was restored to its complete form (restorer: Ion Marinică).

𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Such fired clay weights, featuring anthropomorphic elements, could have been used either for the warp-weighted loom or for sinking fishing nets. In the case of the piece from Brebeni – ‟Ogașul lui Ioniță Țiganul”—the former option—that it originates from a vertical warp-weighted loom—appears more plausible. The hole shows signs of wear, indicating that the weight was suspended using textile fibres. The distinctive feature of this weight, its stylised modelling in the shape of a human foot, may also suggest a particular symbolism, possibly linked to the spiritual beliefs of the Sălcuța culture communities.
