Last July we learned the motifs that will be used on the two commemorative 2 euro coins that San Marino will issue this year: “Holy Jubilee Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope” and “550th Anniversary of the Birth of Michelangelo”. Today I am showing you the designs that both coins will feature.
Holy Jubilee Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope
The Holy Jubilee Year 2025, with the motto “Pilgrims of Hope,” is a special event of the Catholic Church that invites millions of faithful to make a pilgrimage to Rome, participate in spiritual celebrations and obtain plenary indulgences. It features the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica and activities focused on hope, peace and spiritual renewal. It is a call to strengthen faith and promote reconciliation.
550th Anniversary of the Birth of Michelangelo
In 2025, we will celebrate the 550th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), a genius of the Renaissance. This commemoration highlights his legacy as a sculptor, painter, architect and poet, author of masterpieces such as David, the Sistine Chapel and the Pietà. There will be exhibitions, conferences and cultural events in Italy and around the world, highlighting his impact on art and universal culture.
