Last year saw the end of a series of coins called "Eternal Sculptures" in which some of the most famous sculptures created by man were represented. Following this line, this year we have the second part, «Eternal Sculptures II», in which the pieces will be larger and therefore much more colorful. Its 50 mm diameter, composed of 3 ounces of pure silver and the high relief they have, will make up authentic works of art, which their limited print run will make them a very exclusive product.
To inaugurate this new series, Michelangelo's Moses has been chosen, a white marble sculpture dedicated to the biblical figure of the prophet that can be found in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome . Both the obverse and reverse of this precious coin feature Smartminting technology with Ultra High relief and Black Proof quality, coupled with a metallic marble effect finish.
The reverse of the coin features the top of Moses, the incredible sculpture by Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti. Moses has a serious attitude, under his arm he carries the tablets with the 10 commandments, his other hand holds his long beard. His tense muscles are very well represented in the design thanks to the Smartminting technology.
The sculpture has a fantastic metallic marble effect and some of the darker areas, such as the Tablets of Commandments and parts of Moses' beard and arm, are partially coloured. The outer edge features a frame with a typically Renaissance motif from which Moses appears to emerge. The inscriptions are: "MMXXII", year of issue in Roman numerals, "ETERNAL SCULPTURES II", name of the series, and "MOSES" as the name of the coin.
The obverse of the coin also features Smartminting technology and shows a detail from the statue: Moses' hand holding his long beard. To the left of the obverse, the Coat of Arms of Palau and, below, the inscription: "20 DOLLARS", as face value.
The coin is presented in a case like the one you can see in the image, along with its certificate of authenticity. The print run is very limited, only 499 units.
