On April 18, the last five coins of the “History of the Railway” series will be issued. This series reproduces a selection of Trains that, for one reason or another, have been relevant over time.
The series follows the same line as the one issued between 2018 and 2019 under the name "History of Navigation" and in 2020 that of "History of Aviation". The face value is the same, 1.5 euros, they are minted in a cupro-nickel alloy with a diameter of 33 mm, and the face on which each of the trains is presented is in full color.
In total, the collection is made up of twenty coins, the first ones came together with an exclusive book-album, where the complete collection can be kept and this last installment is accompanied by a brochure (in Spanish and English) with information and description of each one of the five trains.
Renfe and the Spanish Railways Foundation collaborated for this new series , a foundation entrusted with the recovery, custody, generation and dissemination of the historical, cultural, scientific and technological railway heritage.

Mallard 4468
Mallard Locomotive No. 4468 is a steam locomotive. Despite being typical within its category, it is relevant from a historical point of view as it holds the speed record for steam locomotives, 202.58 km/h.
On the reverse (common to all the pieces), within a central circle, in its upper part, the legend HISTORIA DEL FERROCARRIL appears in a circular direction and in capital letters; below, the value of the coin 1.5 EURO, in two lines and in capital letters; and, further down, the Mint mark. A line of sprockets surrounds the legends of the central area . Outside the central circle, an image of a railway track is reproduced. Surrounds all the reasons and legends a gráfila of pine nuts.
