The Bank of Mexico has put into circulation a new 50 peso bill (2.10 euros) with which it continues the renewal of its monetary cone of paper money. The new banknotes, both this and previous ones, present improvements in their security, functionality and durability characteristics, as well as new graphic motifs that represent the historical identity and natural heritage of Mexico.

The new 50-peso bill is characterized by having


reinforced security measures that make it more difficult to forge and, at the same time, easy to
authenticate by those who use them, including people with visual disabilities. Its design represents thematic motifs that allude to the historical period of Ancient Mexico, with the founding of Tenochtitlan and the ecosystem of rivers and lakes with their representative fauna and flora, through a site recognized in the list of "World Heritage" of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Its predominant color is purple, it is made of polymer, its dimensions are 125 mm long x 65 mm high and it has a vertical format.


Obverse: The vignette or main motif of the composition consists of a fragment from the back of the monolith called “TEOCALLI DE LA GUERRA SAGRADA” that shows an eagle perched on a cactus with “Atl tlachinolli” in its beak; It is currently exhibited in the National Museum of Anthropology and was sculpted by the Mexica civilization, under the orders of Moctezuma II.

In the background, there is a representation of the city of Tenochtitlan, based on a part of Diego Rivera's mural, located in the National Palace in Mexico City, whose name is identified with the card “LA GRAN TENOCHTITLAN (VIEW FROM THE MARKET OF TLATELOLCO) ”.

In the upper part of the composition, the Institution's monogram is shown, followed by the text “Banco de México”, elements that are sensitive to the touch, as well as the vignette and the “Meztli” symbols located to the right and left of the vignette, the facial 50 with the word "Pesos", located in the upper left corner
of the bill and the text "Fifty Pesos", in the lower right corner. To the left of the latter, the signatures of a member of the Governing Board and the Main Cashier of the Bank of Mexico are shown, on these the card "Foundation of Tenochtitlan, representing the historical period of Ancient Mexico" and as bottom, the symbol "Two houses" that refers to the year of the foundation.

In the upper right part, the transparent window with the shape of the
“Ollin” symbol is located , which changes color and inside it contains the number 50 and a texture of five points forming a half circle, which is surrounded by an abstraction of the Stone of the Sun and in the lower left corner, on a second transparent window shaped like an “Ollin”, is the multicolored denomination that changes in color from gold to green, depending on the visual angle, with the
number 50 inside. Close the composition, to the left of the
Banco de México monogram , the folio, which is in a vertical position with digits of increasing size and integrates the series to create a unique identifier.


Reverse: The ecosystem of rivers and lakes in Xochimilco, in
Mexico City, is illustrated . In the central area, as the main motif, is the image of a Mexican axolotl , and as a background, the Xochimilco canals, surrounded by chinampas, corn fields and ahuejote trees. In the lower right area of ​​the axolotl, there is the secondary window in the shape of an "Ollin" that changes its hue
from gold to green, which is located on an abstraction of the
Xochimilco toponymy and to the left, the card "Ecosystem of rivers and lakes, with the axolotl and corn in Xochimilco in Mexico City, a cultural heritage of humanity ”.

They frame the representation, the denomination with a number in horizontal and vertical positions in the upper right and lower left corners, respectively, the transparent window in the upper left area and below it, the text "BANCO DE MÉXICO", as well as the word text "Fifty Pesos", in the lower right corner.

This banknote belongs to a new family called "G" that has 6 denominations: 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 pesos, the latter will only be issued if it is considered that said ticket is required to satisfy the needs of the country.
