Today November 22 is the day on which the traditional 30 euro coin is officially issued, which every year attracts both regular and occasional collectors. As you already know, the one for 2021 is dedicated to the "Xacobean Holy Year 21 - 22" and, a priori, after pressing the opinion among those who usually acquire it, it has been valued very positively for the most part. I even think that it will be almost like an indispensable souvenir for all those pilgrims who make the Camino de Santiago.

On the reverse, occupying the central part of the coin, there is an allegorical image of the "road" with a pilgrim and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Above this image, horizontally and in capital letters, the value of the piece 30 EURO, and the mint mark. On the left, in an ascending circular direction, the legend XACOBEO 21 · 22, accompanied by a representation of the pilgrim's staff.

At the bottom left, and within a circle, a scallop shell, 21 · 22, the mint mark and an arrow appear in the form of a quadruple latent image. Surrounding the motives and legends one pearl beading.

On the obverse the superimposed effigies of Their Majesties the Kings Don Felipe VI and Doña Letizia are reproduced. In the upper part of the coin, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend FELIPE VI Y LETIZIA. At the bottom of the coin, in capital letters, the legend SPAIN and the year of issue 2021, separated by a fleur de lis. Surrounding the motives and legends one pearl beading.

Characteristics of the coin

Face value: 30 euro
Composition: 925 thousandth silver, the rest copper

Diameter: 33 mm
Maximum volume of issue: 1 million

The currency can now be purchased at all branches of the Bank of Spain at its face value, 30 euros. It is not a currency that has liberating power, come on, it cannot be paid with it. What you can do, without a day getting tired of it or need the money, is to exchange it for the 30 euros paid at any Bank of Spain.

Collector's Version

As every year we also have the currency presented in a wallet, 5,000 units that have an approximate price of € 52. The quality of this piece is described as "Special". These coins have been minted in manual feed presses and with dies that have received special treatment.

The 30 euro coin and its precursors

The Royal Mint began in 1994 the minting of collectible silver coins with a face value of 2,000 pesetas, which, for current use, were distributed by banks and for collecting were framed in a commemorative case and they were distributed by numismatic shops.

As of the entry into operation of the single European currency EURO, in 2002, this tradition was continued with the coins of 12, 20 and 30 EURO of face value that, likewise, are distributed, for the most part, by the banking entities and in smaller numbers and inside a commemorative case are distributed by numismatic shops.
