The red and white flag, popularly known as the "Maple Leaf," has been the national flag of Canada since 1965, inspired by the national colors of Canada.
There are more than 500,000 shades of red, but only one appears on the Canadian flag. The exact color value was recommended by a team of scientists from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), who tested and analyzed different fabric dyes before determining the longest-lasting shade of red. This was the first time that international color standards were applied to a national flag.

Under the name "100 Years of the Colors of Canada" the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a $ 5 coin made up of 1/4 ounce of pure silver commemorating the event. It was in 1921, when King George V proclaimed the national colors of Canada, which later together with the iconic maple leaf would form the country's flag.

Designed by Canadian artist Steve Hepburn, the back of your coin has double date "1921 - 2021" to commemorate the centenary of the national colors of Canada. His image, selectively colored, is an extraordinary display of patriotism: a Canadian proudly holds the red and white flag of Canada while shouting his love for the country from the highest mountain.

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

The coin is presented in a capsule embedded in a colorful and informative folder.
