Two other characters from the animated series The Simpsons have just been featured on a new one-ounce silver coin issued by The Perth Mint Australia. Marge and Maggie Simpson are the protagonists of this new piece, belonging to an extensive series of coins that began in 2019 after the Australian Mint purchased the corresponding license.

The Simpsons premiered as a half-hour series in 1989 and immediately became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, now seen in 60 countries and 20 languages. In 2018, The Simpsons reached an incredible milestone by becoming the longest-running scripted show in television history.


The reverse of the coin features an image of Marge and Maggie Simpson in front of the family home at 742 Evergreen Terrace. The design also includes the signature of Matt Groening (creator of the Simpsons) and the mint mark "P" mark of the Perth Mint.


The obverse shows the royal effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The inscriptions include "QUEEN ELIZABETH II", "TUVALU 1 DOLLAR", "2021", as well as the weight and purity of the coin.


The volume of issue of the coin is 25,000 units, all encapsulated, of these, 2,500 are presented in a kind of card like the one you can see above.
