The currency for which we fight so much from here, in recognition of the groups that kept the country going during the hardest months of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, is already a reality. The FNMT has just released the design that will present the 30 euro 2020 coin dedicated to the heroes and heroines of the fight against the coronavirus. which will be available from next November.
Before showing you the coin, I would like to thank you with all my heart to all of you who got involved in this initiative, either through your words of support, or those you could, making your own designs for the coin. For me your designs are the best, beyond the final result, the intention, this time with more reason than ever, was the important thing. But you also sent me very, very cool designs, which could be the design of this coin without any problem.
Add that all the designs that you sent me were sent to the FNMT and, according to what they tell me from there, they were seriously valued, in fact some were chosen among the finalist sketches and were very close to being the design chosen to be coined. Finally he decided on one of those made by the FNMT recorders themselves. Hopefully they were equanimous and valued some and other designs equally.
From the FNMT I was promised at the time that they would send me a thank you letter to all of you who participated with your designs, a letter that I will publish here as soon as it arrives. At the moment we are going to know the design that the coin presents and its description.
The exact reason for the coin is the following: "Thanks to all the people and professional groups who have most excelled in the fight against the COVID-19 disease in our country."
On the reverse, occupying the central part of the coin, the map of Spain appears with the colors of the Spanish flag. Below and within a circle, appear in the form of a quadruple latent image an image of the virus that causes COVID-19, the mint mark, an image of two hands clapping and the figure 20 referring to the year of minting 2020. Surrounding the part Central, ten pictograms appear honoring essential workers, heroes during the pandemic. At the bottom of the coin, two pairs of clapping hands, the mint mark and, in capital letters, the legend THANK YOU.
On the obverse the superimposed effigies of Their Majesties the King and Queen Felipe VI and Letizia are reproduced. In the upper part of the coin, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend FELIPE VI Y LETIZIA. At the bottom of the coin, in capital letters, the legend ESPAÑA and the year of issue 2020, separated by a fleur-de-lis. Surrounding the motives and legends one pearl beading.
The maximum number of pieces to be minted will be 1,000,000. However, due to the unique nature of this issue, reissues may be agreed upon. The General Directorate of the Treasury and Financial Policy will determine the maximum number of pieces to be minted on the occasion of each reissue.
The National Mint and Stamp Factory-Real Casa de la Moneda will donate fifty percent of the profit of this issue to finance the expenses caused by the health crisis caused by COVID-19.
