The eight-pointed white cross on a red background is known as the symbol of the Order of Saint John. The origins of this charitable organization can be traced back to an order of knights known as the Order of the Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem. The courage in adversity shown by the "Hospitallers", as the members of the Order were known, is a symbol of strength, the pillar of chivalry to which the fourth coin of the five that make up the series Cuentos de Caballeros is dedicated.

Founded in Jerusalem in 1099 by Benedictine brother Gerard Tum to care for sick, poor and injured pilgrims in the Holy Land, the Hospitallers had a great influence on the development of Western hospitals. But in addition to its charitable and religious functions, the Order soon developed a business and military role, with the first armed brothers appearing among the Order's ranks in 1130. The Hospitallers provided military escort to the pilgrims and, beginning in 1136, the Order took control of numerous important fortresses in the Holy Land.

The eight-pointed cross is a symbol of the fight against disease and loneliness, homelessness and hunger, cruelty and neglect, among other things. The cross appears on the coat of arms of the Order, which is supported on the obverse of the coin by a heraldic hippocampus, a mythical creature that was half horse and half fish, originally from Greek mythology. The Knights of the Order of Saint John appear on both the obverse and reverse of the coin, one with drawn sword and the other haggling with a merchant at a market stall.

The five pieces that make up the collection have facials of 10 euros, as in all those issued by the Austrian mint with this facial value, they adapt to all pockets, depending on the metal and the quality in which we want to acquire the coin. We can do from the € 10 that the copper one costs, which by the way looks as good, or better, than the silver ones.
