The Great White Shark is the protagonist of another spectacular coin minted with Smartminting technology, with this technique large reliefs are achieved that make a metallic disc, in theory inert, come to life. The motifs represented come out of the piece itself and make us immerse ourselves in a scene that we will experience with greater intensity. By the way, this one that I present to you is not the best currency to dive into.
Since Steven Spielberg's movie "Jaws" came out 45 years ago, the idea of an encounter with a great white shark has terrified people for decades. This impressive coin will take you back to that movie where a surfer and a shark are the main actors.
The obverse shows right in the center a great white shark, whose back comes out of the water showing its characteristic triangular fin and the tip of the tail fin; to his right, a woman lying placidly on a surfboard remains oblivious to the scene around her. Colors have been applied to the coin that mimic the surface of the water shining low in the sun; the dark outline of the shark's silhouette appears at the bottom of crystal clear waters. At the top of the composition, in the same dark tone as the shark's silhouette, appears the legend "GREAT WHITE SHARK".
The reverse presents the same scene from the perspective of the seabed; the inscription "GREAT WHITE SHARK" is reversed; the Palau coat of arms with the legend "REPÚBLICA DE PALAU 5 $" is designed as a representation of two mermaids playing in the water; the year 2021 is shown on the surfboard.
