The protected landscape area of ​​the Poľana Mountains, declared a biosphere reserve on March 27, 1990 by UNESCO, is the place to which the coin issued on September 17 by the Bank of Slovakia (Národná banka Slovenska ). It is a collector's coin with a face of 20 euros minted in 925 pure silver, and can be purchased in two qualities, Bu and Proof.

 

The design on the obverse of the coin shows two deer fighting, watched expectantly in the background by six other deer. The left side shows a rock formation of volcanic origin, part of the Kalamárka natural monument. The Slovak coat of arms appears in the upper left of the design. On your right is the coin denomination '20 EURO '. Along the bottom edge is the name of the issuing country 'SLOVENSKO', with the year of issue '2020' above it. To the left of the year of issue is the Kremnica Mint (Mincovňa Kremnica) mint mark, consisting of the letters 'MK' placed between two dies and the stylized letters 'MP' referring to the designer of the Mária Poldaufová coin.



The reverse of the coin shows the Bystrý potok waterfall, a national natural monument. Along the upper left edge of the design appears a fragment of traditional ornamentation. Below is the name 'POĽANA' and a representation of flowers of the Viola lutea sudetica plant. The words 'CHRÁNENÁ KRAJINNÁ OBLASŤ' (Protected Landscape Area) are inscribed on the bottom and most of the right edge of the design.
