On June 9, Russia's latest commemorative coin, dedicated to the Centenary of the All-Russian Association of the Blind, was issued. It is a silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles, of which 5,000 have been minted.All-Russian Association of the Blind
The All-Russian Association of the Blind (VOS) was founded on July 8, 1925, with the goal of improving the living conditions of people with visual impairments. Since its inception, the organization has provided financial assistance, cultural and political education, instruction in accessible trades, and opportunities to apply their knowledge in science, technology, and the arts.
Throughout its 100-year history, VOS has accumulated valuable experience in addressing issues of rehabilitation, business development, social integration, and cultural promotion. The organization continues to innovate by implementing new forms and methods of adaptation and rehabilitation, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for people with visual impairments.
Today, the All-Russian Association of the Blind represents more than 185,000 people and is comprised of 81 regional organizations. It also founded 156 specialized training and production companies in 68 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as 13 institutions and three health centers.
The currency
On the reverse we see a colour embossed image of the All-Russian Association of the Blind (VOS) logo, a QR code laser-treated for a matte finish, which leads to the VOS website when scanned with a smartphone and offers the option of audio description to receive information about the coin and the embossed inscription '100 ЛЕТ' (100 YEARS) in Braille, both positioned above the logo, and the embossed inscription below in two lines '100 ЛЕТ' (100 YEARS).
The obverse depicts a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, above it along the edge the semicircular inscription 'РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ' (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired diamonds on both sides, below the coat of arms are the chemical symbol and the metal fineness on the left and the fine metal content and mint mark on the right, in the lower center in three lines are the inscription 'БАНК РОССИИ' (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin '3 RUBLYA' (3 RUBLES) and the year of issue '2025' (2025).
