As previously announced in Visual Numismatics, the first part of the Tour de France tribute collection issued by the Monnaie de Paris consisted of two commemorative coins, worth 10 and 50 euros, which were unveiled 100 days before the start of the race in Lille.
Today, just weeks before the sporting event, the Monnaie de Paris presents the second installment of this iconic collection, unveiling both new collector coins minted in gold and silver in various denominations, as well as a collection of mini-medals that bring viewers closer to the different stages of the Tour de France.
The 2025 Tour de France will be held from July 5 to 27, with a route entirely in French territory covering 3,320 km over 21 stages and two rest days.
The peloton will start with a flat opening stage in Lille on July 5, followed by several flat and rolling stages in the north and center of the country until July 14, when the first mountain passes arrive.
The second week will feature the most demanding challenges: the Pyrenees with stages in Hautacam, and a tough 11km hill time trial to Peyragudes on July 18.
In the third week, the route will climb the iconic Mont Ventoux on July 22, then continue through the Alps with finishes in Courchevel, Col de la Loze, and La Plagne, before the grand finale takes place on July 27 on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
With five summit finishes, two time trials (one flat, one mountainous), and a variety of flat, rolling, and mountainous stages, the route reinforces its tough profile, promising a leading role for climbers and a strategic duel between specialists.
